the work:
Small paintings range from approximately 7” x 10” to 15” x 20”. All are egg tempera, graphite, and silverpoint on gessoed panel, except for the group of four small still-life paintings, which are oil on panel. The large paintings are approximately 5’ x 6’, oil on stretched linen. The drawings are approximately 7” by 9”. All are graphite and/or color pencil on paper. Some have been rendered on vintage paper that bears evidence of age (yellowing). Some drawings have areas in which the paper has been thinned by sanding; some have voids, also created by sanding. Each drawing and painting is a component of a larger body. The pieces can by arranged and rearranged in clusters or stand alone. All of the work is current. All were brought to their present state within the last three years, although some - in particular, the larger oil paintings - were started four or five years ago. My work is always open and subject to revision - addition or subtraction. |
